“All clouds are clocks, even the most cloudy of clouds.” Karl Popper's metaphor of clocks and clouds describes the two ends of the spectrum of predictability in social science research. Clouds represent the disorderly and irregular behavior, and clocks represent the predictable and rational. Clocks and Clouds is a publication dedicated to working towards finding the clocks amidst all the clouds.
Clocks and Clouds is an annual undergraduate student journal that publishes timely and relevant articles on the cutting edge of international relations and public affairs research. The journal is meant to add a voice to the intellectual dialogue both within the American University community and in broader academia.
